Menu Maker Directions

  1. To add dishes and publications (cookbooks, magazines, recipe cards, etc.) go to file and click on new. There will be a pop up window allowing you to add new items. I would suggest adding all your publications first so that they are in the database when you go to add all your dishes.

  2. When adding dishes there is a seasonal option. This allows you to choose what season you would like to have certain menu items pop up in your menu. (i.e. Add rhubarb items. If you like to eat seasonally and locally you would them check the seasons you have access to it locally and those are the times it will pop up on your menu.)

  3. Once you have all your menu items entered you are ready to make your first menu.

  4. Go to file again and click on new. This time click menu. This will allow you to enter the dates you would like to have your menu start and end on. (I, personally, like to make mine for a month at a time and then section it out weekly (by hand). This allows for greater variety in the items that pop up.)

  5. Once you have created a menu you can click on the menus button and see your menu listed by the dates it will encompass. At this point you have the option to edit your menu if you choose to do so. Right click on the menu of your choice and you will see edit and delete options. Editing allows you to move things around and/or change them all together. A nice feature if you know you will be gone at certain times or if you are having a dinner party.

  6. Once you have made all the changes you would like you are now ready to print your menu. Make sure the menu you want is highlighted. You need to click on the icon that looks like an adobe reader icon. If you mouse over it there will be a helpful tool bar that pops up and lets you know what it is. Find it? Okay. Click that and it will show you a preview of your menu. Then when you are ready hit print!

  7. Voila! Your menu is ready. Enjoy.

  8.

If you have questions or if I didn’t explain something properly(the latter is prolly more like it) please post a message to the MenuMaker GoogleGroup.

  9. At this time you can add desserts, but they are not able to come up on the menu, yet. That is on the list of things to do!
